The Roethlis-Burger

Look, up in the sky. It’s a hamburger… it’s a cheeseburger… it’s the Roethlisburger! This burger/sausage behemoth, named after Pittsburgh Steelers’ QB, was created by Peppi’s Old Tyme Sandwich Shop during Big Ben’s rookie season.

1 pound ground beef

1 pound italian sausage (hot)

Montreal steak seasoning

6 eggs, scrambled

2 onions

8 slices american cheese

1 tomato

1 head lettuce

pepperoncinis (10 chopped)

4 portuguese rolls

fries on the side


1Make 4 patties out of the beef, sausage, one egg, and montreal seasoning. Set aside.

2Saute onions until browned and softened.

3Place patties on the skillet on medium heat and cook 5 minutes to a side (1st side twice).

4Scramble remaining eggs.

5After cooking the first side a second time, chop patties with spatula making chunks.

6Mix with onions and pepperoncinis and 4 slices of cheese.

7Heat until cheese starts to melt.

8Make sandwiches as follows... Add eggs first, cover with meat, then cheese, then tomato, then lettuce.

~ "I was in the burgh recently and visited Peppis for the real sandwich and it did not include the pepperoncinis, but I like the addition anyway."
